  DISCOVERING WETLANDS

Exploring the wetlands, groundwater,

and aquifers of the Everglades.

Through building a wetland model, students will learn how wetlands in the Everglades function and why it is important to protect them. Students will then associate objects as metaphors for the natural functions of wetlands.

Students will explore the important relationships of aquifers to the Everglades and residents of southern Florida and build an aquifer model.

Students will use the aquifer model from the previous lesson to discuss pollution, how it affects the Everglades, and the different ways we use water.
