Anne Haywood
Path of the Panther, Mountain to Sea Education
Anne Haywood founded Miami-based Mountain to Sea Education in 2012 to develop environmental science and geography education programs and resources for K-12 students and teachers.
Before this role, Anne was a National Geographic Society staff member for 12 years, creating interdisciplinary K-12 social studies and science content, including field-based BioBlitz student programs in collaboration with several National Parks.
Named a National Geographic Fellow in 2018, Anne works to inspire educators and youth to get outdoors to understand and appreciate the natural world, while also developing skills to help address environmental challenges. Currently leading the development of the Path of the Panther Education Guides, ocean exploration museum exhibit guides, and an online citizen science course for educators, Anne is integrating these into Miami’s GEN2050 teen summer STEM camp this summer.
She has taught elementary and middle school in Texas and Virginia and is a Girl Scout Troop 204 co-leader in Miami. She has a B.A. from Wake Forest University and a M.A. in geography focusing on K-12 education from UNC-Chapel Hill.
