Dr. Jody Berman
Environmental Science Teacher, South Plantation High School
Jody has been a classroom teacher for 21 years, almost all of them in the Environmental Science and Everglades Restoration magnet at South Plantation High School. She has taught all grade levels and various science courses, including Experimental Science, Research, Biology, and Environmental Science. Before becoming a formal educator, she worked for 8 years as an informal educator and program/exhibit developer at the Museum of Discovery and Science.
Jody has been named Environmental Teacher of the Year for Broward County. She is a Citizen Science Coach for Broward County and a Florida Master Naturalist and enjoys helping others engage in a deeper understanding of the environment through hands-on learning.
She has helped lead South Plantation High School through many environmental grants and for the last 2 years has worked to have her school be recognized as Everglades Champions with The Everglades Foundation.
