Tessa Whalen
Everglades Literacy Program Coordinator, South Florida, The Everglades Foundation
Tessa brings to The Everglades Foundation her love of the water and outdoor experiences. After earning a bachelor’s degree in biology from Morehead State University (Morehead, KY), she served as a lifeguard, camp counselor, and outdoor educator.
Most recently, she was a Marine Science Instructor and Unit Leader at “SEACAMP” in Big Pine Key, Florida. There, she created lesson plans and a classroom structure, supervised staff, and organized evening programs and staff events.
She holds several certifications, including CPR, SCUBA, AED, and wilderness first aid, and has served as a volunteer with organizations including the Bimini Shark Lab, Key West Rotary Club and St. Peter Catholic Church.
